Treatment of Worry and Generalized Anxiety

(1-Day or 1/2-Day)

The initial response of worry must be considered useful, selected for its survival value in evolutionary terms. When the worry process incurs too high an emotional cost, or when the worry sub-routine is activated too frequently, it can be considered maladaptive.

As such, worry is pervasive throughout all of the anxiety disorders; 40-60% of patients report excessive worry about minor things. It has been shown to be the most frequent symptom of those who consult their general practitioner with psychological disorders. We will address twenty techniques for controlling worry and will apply this worry paradigm to the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder.
